Here’s

Here’s a selection of Choro music written or arranged for the guitar

CHORO No. 1

We start with the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos, well known to the classical guitarist.  He’s written many choros and his Choro No 1 was written specifically for the guitar.  Here it is played by David Russell

Choro da Saudade

French guitarist Judicael Perroy plays Choro da Saudade by the Paraguayan guitarist/composer Agustin Barrios.  This "Melancholy Choro” was written after the death of a close friend.

Sons de Carrilhoes

“Sound of Bells" by João Texeira Guimarães, who is more simply known as Pernambuco by guitarists.  This piece is described as a Maxixe-Choro and is played very nicely here by Tatyana Ryzhkova.

Reboliço

Another Maxixe-Choro from Pernambuco.  This lively piece is well played here by John Alvarado

Carinhoso (Pixinguinha/Braguinha)

April 23rd is also the official birthday of the great Brazilian Choro maestro Pixinguinha, so here’s something a little different.  The beautiful Carinhoso sung by Marisa Monte with a guitar accompaniment by Pualinho da Viola.

Choro No. 2 by Armando Neves

Yoo Sik Ro plays Choro No 2,  by Armando Neves, also known as Armandinho.  Another beautiful piece of music and a sensitive rendering.  Hope you enjoy.
