The WCGS Summer Concert

The members of the award winning Worcester Classical Guitar Society present their annual Summer Concert with a distinctive dance theme to the programme...

Featuring works by Beethoven, Boccherini, Phillips, Ponce, Granados, Barrios and the WCGO performing the premiere of Gustav Holst's St Paul's Suite.

The inimitable Štěpán Rak gave a concert for the society in association with the guitar dept of the BCU. The programme included In Praise of Tea, The Royal Suite, Odores, Song for David and Remembering Prague. An unforgettable experience this was Štěpán's first concert in the UK in over ten years.

Dodici Corde explore the all too seldom heard works for two guitars of composers such as Giuliani, Sor, Carulli, Diabelli, von Call and de L’Hoyer providing audiences with a rare opportunity to hear these magnificent gems of the early 19C repertoire... Historically informed performance on period instruments.

The senior and junior members of the society return in the traditional end of year concert with a programme reflecting the great diversity of interests within the society.    The WCGO continue on their musical expedition with a group of picturesque pieces from the musical map of the world: from Asia to the New World taking in several central European cultures en route.

there is only one word to describe this cultural banquet for the ears and the heart: nylon.

The combined talents of Andrea Perret (flute), Helen Wynne-Jones (oboe) and Stephen Begley (guitar) represent a most unique collection of instruments playing a unique repertoire.

The programme consisted of works all composed within an approximate 100 year period from c.1750 to c.1850.

Music for an Island

An innovative multi-media presentation that synchronised images with music... The images were all especially produced for the pieces and reflected the areas described in the music.

The annual end of year concert celebrating the talents of the society members including: The Worcester Guitar Quartet, the Worcester Classical Guitar Orchestra, Worcester Youth Guitar Orchestra, The Rawlinson Filer Duo and Paul Benson.  Featured the final performance of 'Eire' by Norbert Leclercq before we recorded it.

The Modern Guitar Trio: Roland Chadwick, Roland Gallery, Vincent Lindsey Clark

... performed a set comprised entirely of their own compositions.  A first and a last... the first time we have had a programme entirely written by the players, the last time they were ever to play this programme in public.

Poetry, passion, and pyromaniac prestidigitation!

All sorts of fiery things for the hot season... a veritable melting pot of talent with music from the resident guitar quartet and the guitar orchestra.   Celebrating dance music across the ages, on and off the dance floor, with a few supernatural encounters along the way!

Crossed Wires and Coloured Strings

... patron of the Worcester Classical Guitar Society gives the inaugural performance of the New Artist's Scheme with a recital of her critically acclaimed new album 'Crossed Wires and Coloured Strings', the week before jetting off to give the American premiere at the Long Island Guitar Festival in New York.
