A New Artist's Scheme production
Finbarr Malafronte presents an eclectic mix of works from across the ages in an attractive programme that reflects his broad musical interests. He explains, ‘Choosing a program is often one of the most difficult aspects of a performance. With so much good music out there it is often difficult to make a choice between one good narrative and another. My instinct is always for a good story well told’.
With the broadest canvass upon which to cast the great ideas from past masters Finbarr will be engaging with the subtleties of dance rhythms from the Renaissance and the intricacies of polyphony from the Baroque before entering into the world of symmetric forms and perfect phrases that were made so popular during the Classical period. Culminating with the emotional expanses of the Romantic period and the revolutionary ideas of the Contemporary, the programme represents an extraordinary survey of Western Art Music.
Rarely has a programme been assembled that illustrates so well not just the differences between musical epochs but the similarities too and all this is presented with such a genuine sense of style and panache it is easy to see why the guitar remains an instrument loved by so many.
