Music for an Island: NAS 003
Quite apart from the marvellous opportunity of hearing Mark and Chris play for us again and for the opportunity of bringing their professional exprience and insight to bear on the development of the New Artist's Scheme the idea that really sold their programme to us was the brilliant use of mixed media.
The prize winning Eden Stell Guitar Duo take a new direction with the release of their CD ‘MUSIC FOR AN ISLAND’. The Duo’s passion for performance innovation has resulted in a finely crafted and synchronised multimedia concert of music and images inspired by landscapes and locations from around the UK.
The diverse programme covers the length and breadth of the British Isles from the Orkney Isles to the seaside promenade of Eastbourne, taking in the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, leafy Sherwood Forest, and the Beatles’ Liverpool along the way.
The programme also featured works by Bach (after Marcello) Rodrigo and Gary Ryan, a radical musician with a burgeoning reputation as one of England's finest composers for the guitar. You can view the full programme and Mark's inspirational notes on the concept of Music for an Island by downloading the programme here:
The performance elicited enthusiastic comments from several members of the audience:
"Fantastic playing and pictures"
"A lovely concert"
"Wonderful, a breath of fresh air!"
"Next time, I will bring a box of tissues with me! Wonderful."
" Really Wonderful"
"Brilliant entertainment!"
"As brilliant as ever!!"
